Tips for RapidSetMix into a single cup. Amounts must be equal (within ½ ml) from each bottle or the material will not set properly. The particles need to be well dispersed. The distal ends of the impression require a wall (RapidSet Putty) or the liquid material will spill out before it sets. -RapidSet™Putty can be used with a silicone or polyether impression. -For alginate, it’s best to use more alginate (putty can be adapted to the surface but it won’t stick). Place some unset alginate on a piece of putty and apply to the distal end of the impression. The material does not react well with water. For alginate impressions AIR DRY before pouring in the RapidSet™. The material adheres to polyether if the polyether Rapid Release is not used. Spray the RapidSet™ Rapid Release polyether separator and GENTLY AIR DRY to leave a thin dry film. REPEAT TWO MORE TIMES. It is not necessary to use the polyether separator with silicones or alginate. Vibration is not needed BUT air could easily get trapped in the mesial and distal corners of incisal edges, or deep cusp tips. Experience has shown that using a sharp long instrument to quickly place the material into these spots before pouring in the remaining liquid will prevent this from occurring. If you want to add more material, just pour more material and it will join with the original, as long as there was no contact with anything else. The surface can also be roughened up to expose an “uncontaminated” surface for additional material to be added.
